More than 250 participants have participated in the event initiated by MHA. Most of the participants of the MHA Open 2020 Surfing Competition came from Lombok Island, Sumbawa Island and Bali Province. “Participants who registered were more than 250 people, most of them from Lombok Island and Bali Province,” said the Chairman of the MHA, Samsul Bahri after holding the MHA Open 2020 Surfing Competitive Press Conference in the BallRoom of the Lombok Tourism Polytechnic Rectorate in Praya, Central Lombok, Saturday, 12/12/2020. We hotel and restaurant industry leaders who are members of the MHA feel a huge moral burden, when we are forced to lay off our employees one by one in order to survive. And of course we can’t just wait for a star to fall from the sky. We have to revive our fields on which hundreds of thousands of families depend on Lombok Island in particular and NTB in general through the MHA Open 2020 Surfing Competition, “he said. Seger beach surf point Samsul explained the reason the MHA chose the Surfing Competition to increase tourist visits amid the Covid-19 Pandemic. “Why a surfing contest? Mandalika was long before known as one of the best surf towns, along our southern coast from the Selong Belanak region to Ekas, East Lombok, which has the attraction of waves that challenge world surfers. This is one big reason why Lombok is the destination of choice. Not only about the 2021 MotoGP performance at the Mandalika Circuit, we also have a million attractions including surfing and we are holding this event to strengthen Mandalika Lombok’s position as one of the new Qibla for world tourism, “he explained. “Through the Surfing Competition, we hope that the community kitchens will be steaming again, the transportation and accommodation business will return at the end of 2020 as one of the most beautiful gifts on the 62nd anniversary of NTB 2020. So it is clear, in 2021 we are ready to take off, especially in the tourism sector, “continued Samsul On behalf of the MHA, Samsul expressed his gratitude to the NTB Provincial Government, Central Lombok Regency Government for the support given to MHA to carry out the Surfing Competition. “Thank you to the committee members who have given their energy and materials to prepare for the success of this event later. Rest assured the effort will never betray the results. Stay excited and believe we will succeed for our children, our employees, our society. We project at least Rp. 5 billion value of economic turnover will enter Mandalika and its surroundings through this event. Thank you to all parties, Central Lombok Regency Government, NTB Provincial Government, Ministry of Tourism, ITDC, all sponsors and volunteers who have helped. I am sure that the almighty God will reward him well. The success of our tourism, the progress of our region, “he said. JAKARTA, 4 March 2022 一 East Ventures is beyond happy to announce its support of two surfing competitions in Bali, the Vans Bali Pro presented by East Ventures from 8-9 March 2022 and the Liga Surfing Indonesia 2021 Grand Final from 11-13 March 2022, which take place at Bali’s most well-known beach destination of Halfways, Kuta Beach. The Vans Bali Pro presented by East Ventures will see both Men’s and Women’s World Surf League Qualifying Series competitors as well as Pro Junior Boys and Girls competing in international competition during the first part of the week, and then Indonesia’s top surf clubs will compete in individual and team competition in the first ever Liga Surfing Indonesia Grand Final to complete the week. The Indonesia surfing competition scene has been steadily progressing with well-deserved recognition for both its world class waves and beaches coupled with amazing surfing talent. Surfing is expected to grow exponentially after its inclusion in the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020, where Rio Waida represented Indonesia on the world stage as one of 40 surfers to participate. Indonesia has the 3rd longest coastline in the world and was recently named as the most beautiful country by Time Out magazine. Some of the top 5 global surfing spots are located in Indonesia, but there are many under-exposed surfing spots that could be potentially attractive and able to generate local economies. The Vans Bali Pro presented by East Ventures and the Liga Surfing Indonesia 2021 Grand Final have been organized by the Asian Surf Cooperative ASC, a professional surfing organization with 16 years of experience in organizing, managing and supporting surfing events around the Asian region. The ASC has been working with the World Surf League WSL since 2016 to steadily increase the number of World Qualifying Series events in Indonesia to further develop more surfing spots, and grow the talents of Indonesian surfers. “East Ventures is elated to supporting the Asian Surf Cooperative and its related events. We hope our support is beneficial to the overall growth of surfing activities in the region, and we look forward to many more exciting events ahead,” said Willson Cuaca, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of East Ventures. Qualfiying Series competitors as well as Pro Junior Boys and Girls competing in international competition during the first part of the week, and then Indonesia’s top surf clubs will compete in individual and team competition in the first ever Liga Surfing Indonesia Grand Final to complete the to supporting the Asian Surf Cooperative and its related events. East Ventures’ Surfing Analogy Surfing as a sport shares a similar philosophy as the early-stage investment decision process. To choose the best wave or the best investment, you need to look ahead and be ready before the wave or trend emerges. When the wave is right in front of you, it is usually too late. Tipi Jabrik, Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Surf Cooperative, commented “We are glad to receive this support from East Ventures, where it will further accelerate our mission in creating a pathway for Asian surfers, especially surfers in Indonesia to compete against each other and across regions. Through our extensive experience in managing surfing events, we are looking forward to making Asian surfing even greater.” *** About East Ventures East Ventures is a pioneering and leading sector-agnostic venture capital firm in Indonesia. Bali should be on every surfer’s must-visit list. Whether you are a beginner, a skilled surfer, or a professional. Bali has its charm, attracts surfers of all levels from all over the world. Even though there are many other places, still thousands of new people with a passion for surfing keep coming over to this magical Island of Gods. If you are one of the thousands of people coming for surfing in Bali, well here’s the complete guide on Surfing in Bali for all levels. Even tho’ because of Covid-19, Bali is not planning to reopen its tourism until at least 2021. But you gotta prepare and plan your surf trip to Bali. First off, start with when is the best time to surf in Bali? A friendly reminder for first-timer Surfing in Bali. Okay, a surf trip to Bali sounds awesome and good! But just like coming to other countries or places, you will face some “irregularity” that differs from your country. So first of all, here are the 25 insider tips to make sure your stay in Bali is safe and without any hassle. Bali is big but only has 1 airport. The airport’s name is Ngurah Rai International Airport. So the first time you arrive here you will be in South Bali where most of the tourism businesses take place. Bali surf spots are most known by the term west coast and east coast. The distance between each coast is around 2-5 hours ride by bike or car. But we won’t categorize this list on those two terms, instead we list down Bali surf spots based on the area. We will talk more about it below. To get around Bali, you either rent a scooter with a surf rack or a car. But, the scooter is always the best option, simply because you can go to the most remote surf spots a car couldn’t. Scooter with a surf rack will cost you around 700k – 1000k IDR per month. Depends on the bike you choose, most surfers choose N-MAX big scooter. But we won’t be talking about the scooter type here. Just choose the best looking one, or the newest one. And always be careful with the police, prepare your driver’s license international driver license, helmet on read and shirt on, please. because you will 100% get stopped. You obviously don’t want to pay 100k-300k IDR for every time you get stopped. The next thing to know is about money exchange. Don’t go to small places, small money changers, or those with a low and unreasonably cheap exchange rate. 100% you will get scammed! Choose money changers with big signs or big offices and reasonable rates. Bali Surf Season & Weathers The good thing about the Bali surf trip is that there’s always wave in Bali, no matter what time you come to the island. The peak season, however, is happening around dry season from April to October, the driest months in Bali when the swells are big and clean. West Coast = Dry Season = May to September East Coast = Wet Season = November to March Dry Season The dry season is also the peak of the surf season in Bali, so visiting the west coast during this season is highly recommended. The best months to surfing in Bali during the dry season it is between May to September when the winds are in their best condition. Wet Season On the contrary of the west coast, surfing on the east coast of Bali is best done during the wet season that comes between October to April when the offshore winds are coming from the west to the east, making the east coast receives big swells and strong offshore winds and perfect places to surfing in Bali during the wet season. Bali Surf Spots There are many waves and spots for every level of surfers. Beginners, to advance. Beach break to reef break. There’s always a wave all year round. Bali’s happy place for surfing. The term for Bali surf spots is known as West Coast and East Coast. West Coast is best for Dry Season, while East Coast is best for Wet Season. This is because of the wind direction in which will affect the wave quality. If you stay in South Bali, then it is pretty easy to go around Bali’s best surf spots. The distance from South Bali between surf spots on the West Coast and East Coast is just around 1-2 hours. So to start classifying the surf spots in Bali, we will go with South Bali, East Bali, and West Bali. We will also include the best time to surf in each spot West Coast or East Coast. South Bali South Bali has everything you need. There’s a saying “Bali is South Bali”. All the development, tourism, take place in South Bali. Surfing in Bali is best if you stay in South Bali. Everything is practically easy. You can find hotels, motels, surf coaches, surf camps, surf lessons, surf shops, everywhere in this area. And also it provides the big city vibes – mall, entertainment, clubs. Living in South Bali for surfers fall into three places. Bukit/Uluwatu, Canggu, and Kuta. And the beaches in South Bali fall on the West Coast and East Coast. While it is pretty easy to go from one spot to another, the downside surfing in South Bali is that the spots can get crazy crowded! Canggu is most known for its green scenery vibes, but the beaches are best for beginners to intermediate. While Kuta in the other hand is best for beginners and for those who still want the nightlife & city vibes. But Bukit. Bukit has the most serious waves and scenery of hills. It’s not surfing in Bali without trying the Bukit Peninsula’s waves. Go at dry Season & If you choose to stay in the Bukit Uluwatu area, then you surf at these 8 surf spots in Bukit. So, here’s the list to answer “where to surf in Bali?” Canggu/Old Man. West Coast. Best for beginners Balangan. West Coast. Best for Beginners & Intermediate Padang Padang. West Coast. Advance levels. Home to the Rip Curl Padang-Padang Cup Sanur. East Coast. Advance levels Serangan. East Coast. Intermediate West & East Bali There are not many surf spots in West & East Bali. But if you are looking for the best-uncrowded surf in Bali & want to avoid the hustle and bustle of big city/tourist then this is the answer. Best surf spots in the West are Balian & Medewi Beach. It’s located on West Coast so best coming here in the dry season. Going there from South Bali could take around 3-4 hours by bike or car. There are several surf camps also. Medewi is a good surfing spot but obviously not a swimming spot and do not come here expecting to find sun loungers. There’s no tourism facility like in South Bali. The best surf spots in East Bali are Keramas Beach & Padang Bai Beach. Located on East Coast so make sure you are here on Wet Season but mind to use proper equipment to prevent surfer’s ear. Going to East Bali from South is around 1-2 hours’ drive. Best waves in Bali? Tem cinco ondas famosas chamadas The Peak, Bombie, Temple, Racetracks e The Outside Corner. Today 1000s articles are archived and updated to help you explore and understand Bali from multiple perspectives. With the Pandemic still affecting global travel in 2020/21 - Bali, which built a large part of it's economy on tourism, has suffered. We expect Bali and global travel to start to return over the next few years. Bali is preparing to receive surfers from around the world for the 16th annual Padang Padang Rip Curl Cup. Due to the pandemic, the event had to be postponed for the past two years. The competition’s trials will take place throughout July, with the final event taking place in August 2022. The competition is available to foreign participants, although places are primarily reserved for local surfing legends. There are 32 confirmed local competitors, many of whom have been waiting with bated breath for the event to return. Rip Curl is hosting the tournament, which is sponsored by Island Brewing, Anantara Uluwatu Resort, Bali Belly, BizNet, Asian Surf Co, Cliff House, Samudera Sports and the WSL. “WSL is very excited to welcome this year’s Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang in Indonesia. We are very pleased to be working with Rip Curl on this special event in 2022” said WSL Asia Pacific manager Ty Sorati to Bali Tribune. “Being able to watch the world’s top tube riders face off against Indonesia’s best talent in Bali after two years away is something we all dream of,” said competition director James Hendy. “We applaud the local surfing community and local government for continuing this tradition, and we look forward to seeing everyone at Padang Padang Beach on Sunday, July 31 for the start of this event,” he added. Since the last tournament in 2019, the format of the event has changed. The top eight surfers with the highest cumulative heat scores advance to the finals in August. These eight surfers will be joined by the surfer with the highest cumulative score from two combined wave scores to advance to the main competition, which will be held in August during the best waves. The revival of one of Bali’s most famous surfing competitions coincides with the island’s successful bid to host the World Beach Games in 2023. Raja Sapta Oktohari, chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee, said last week that Indonesia had won the bid to host the event from the Olympic Committee. .
